Movin' On...From Town to Town

I don't usually post too much here in the way of personal stuff, but this is a "biggie" so thought I'd make an exception.

Tomorrow is a big day for me and my family: I'll be moving from Texas to Missouri and they will follow soon after.  The company I worked for here shut down its research operations a month-plus ago.  With the help of friends, the support of my family, and the blessings of God, we found a new position pretty quickly, which is no small feat these days and I'm so grateful.  Please keep the 100-plus other folks, including many good and dear friends of mine, who are also looking in your thoughts and prayers.

I'll be moving to Columbia, Missouri, right smack dab in the middle of the state (kind of).

The funny thing is, we lived there before, about 20 years ago, and I was *just* getting interested in history, especially the Civil War,  again, when we moved away.  There's lots of history to enjoy in Missouri and I think I'll be able to appreciate it all the more now.

Do you have favorite Missouri history spots? If so, share in the comments below!

I think you can expect some Missouri-centric history blog posts in the future!

Here's an appropriate song as a send off...classic rock from, well, Missouri!

Jim
I'm happy you found something new so quickly - and in an area you are familiar with too. I wish you and your family the best at the new location.

I'm sure you will do just fine Jim. Stay in touch. I went to school in KC. Took a train from Balto. Never looked back. Enjoyed seeing you in Houston. Advice if you get to KC...The Plaza, Nelson's Art Gallery and Arthur Bryants B-Q.

Glad that you haven't lost your job that is wonderful. I visited Missouri once and loved the railroad museum and the Churchill museum. Also they have a great arborteum.I do remember from high school that Missouri has loads of Civil War History.
